Mount Tam

I just got back from a trip out to California last week. As an LA native, being back had its moments - the years I had a car to roam around in, the blissful California sun I yielded myself to everyday, the countless palm trees and mountain ranges I had grown up indulging on - it was all very familiar.

During my extended time in LA, my brothers and I went on a weekend road trip up to San Francisco along the California coast. One of the highlights of this trip was further up north known as Mount Tamalpais. Surrounded by various lakes and state parks, our goal was to get to the peak of Mount Tam and catch the sunset. We made numerous stops in between to bask in the beautiful fields of nature we came across. Living in a crammed city for the past seven years, I guess it's all I really want to do when I see large patches of land. You can breathe.

We moved quickly from mountain to mountain and as the sun started to set and the winds blew stronger, the fog began to roll in and our pathways began to blur. Standing in the middle of all this wonder, I wished time would pause for just a moment so I could take it all in a little longer. I couldn't remember the last time I had a moment like this surrounded by nothing but nature, thinking about nothing but the present beauty before me. The stillness of that moment made me feel at ease.

There's two things to be said about this casual outfit today.

One is, I've officially fallen in love with Mother Denim because they damn well know how to make a good pair of jeans with a great fit. I've even considered buying all the different washes of the same pair because they fit so well and are so comfortable. Finding a pair of jeans that I like hasn’t been easy.

Second, I've really gotten into casual popovers after finding this light weight woven popover by Lou & Grey.  It's extremely soft and because it's so light weight, you barely feel like you're even wearing anything. It's a good casual piece to have that you can wear as a beach cover up or a summer going into fall layering piece. Otherwise just pair it with jeans for a casual statement, making sure to tuck in some of the front to give your body more definition.

**Note: An inch and a half of the denim hem length was altered.
